Count Me In
Seventh grade Karina, an Indian American, suffers bullying and racism by some boys at school. Her white neighbour, Chris, hangs out with these boys but does not take part and when Karina’s grandpa starts to tutor Chris the kids realize they have lots in common. They draw even closer when they and Grandpa are the victims of a brutal racist attack. This inspiring novel encourages readers to be more aware citizens, to speak out against hate, to reject racism, and to build a more inclusive society. Useful to stimulate discussions, launch reflective writing, and develop strategies to promote positive messaging at school.
