In the Country We Love: My Family Divided
Actress Diane Guerrero’s memoir details the many issues and challenges facing American immigrant families. Diane was born in the US to Columbian parents, but when she was just 14 her parents were deported and she had to find the courage and strength to survive and thrive, and ultimately found her voice to become an advocate for immigrants in the US. This timely resource would be useful for Grade 10-12 English and Socials classes to support discussions of social justice and hardships immigrants face, including socio-economic difficulties, racism, and living with constant anxiety and insecurity.
