Dance Through the Seasons, A

Prince, L.
When Young Woman’s people must make a difficult journey, she knows she can lead them but because she is young, they don’t believe in her. Her guide, Turtle, takes her on a journey of exploration to teach her about the land, guide her through the seasons, tell her stories, and help her learn important lessons. When she returns from her journey, the people see that she now has the wisdom to lead them to safety. This Canadian Indigenous story, written in clear and simple language and accompanied by lush watercolour images, can introduce Indigenous culture and practices and the relationship between Indigenous people and the environment, and launch discussions of oral history.
