Dancing on the Edge

Han Nolan
This powerful novel of self-discovery tells the story of Miracle McCloy, a young girl who constantly questions her very existence. Having never met her mother and being abandoned by her father who has supposedly 'melted', Miracle dances in order to make herself feel real. When her grandmother tells her that she is no longer allowed to dance, she becomes more desperate and self-destructive. After a final act of desperation, Miracle is institutionalized. Miracle ultmately triumps over her demons.
