Dear Toni

Gene Tucks is a grade 6 girl who has just moved from Pelican Lake to her new home up north. Her teacher gives the class an assignment to write a journal each day for 100 days which will be put into a time capsule in a local museum, to be opened in 40 years. Gene first addresses her entries to Dear Nobody, then Dear Somebody, and then to "Toni", forty years in the future. By the end of the 100 day assignment, Gene is ready to let go of both her journal and the role of uncomfortable new kid.
