Devil's Arithmetic, The

This novel is a compelling portrayal of life in a Nazi death camp. Hannah, the protagonist, is a contemporary character who is impatient with the family's observation of Passover and persistent recall of terrible experiences in the past. She is suddenly transported into that past, where she takes on the role of Chaya, and experiences the relocation and imprisonment of the Jews.
