Evolution of Calpurnia Tate, The

Kelly, Jacqueline
Callie is a spunky girl who lives in Texas in 1899 in a family with six brothers. With her boundless curiosity about the world, Callie finds an unlikely ally in the aloof and forbidding figure of her grandfather. The two of them forge a close bond and share a love of nature and its creatures. With few domestic skills and even less interest, and a growing sense of resentment and injustice, Callie is dismayed to learn that her mother expects her to “come out” as a lady.
