Exact Location of Home, The
Eighth-grade student Zig’s life is complicated: his parents are divorced, he hasn’t seen his father in over a year, and when their landlady dies, Zig and his mom find themselves homeless and have to move into a shelter. Zig comes across a GPS at a garage sale and with his two best friends enters the world of geocaching, sure that it will help him find his father. This believable, well-written, and well-paced Canadian novel for grades 5-7 demonstrates how quickly life can change and the reality of homelessness, and is suitable as a read-aloud, class, or literature circle novel to launch discussions about social responsibility, empathy, hope, love, overcoming adversity, trust, loyalty, and friendship.
