Family Fletcher Takes Rock Island, The

Levy, D. A.
When the Fletcher Family – four adopted boys and two dads – arrive at their annual summer vacation spot of Rock Island, they find that this special place that never changes is facing a big change: their beloved lighthouse is closed and a condo development is planned. The children, along with their new neighbours, set out to discover what is really happening and investigate the new buyer to see who he really is. This contemporary novel will engage students and can be used for literature circles, independent reading, or an addition to a classroom library, and to launch discussion of identity, racism, different types of families, diversity, gender, and prejudice.
