Finding Home: The Journey of Immigrants and Refugees

Lee, J.S.
This Canadian resource broadens students’ understanding of immigration and resettlement and provides a peek into the lives of refugees and immigrants. It explores the origins of migration, delves into the reasons people leave their homelands, profiles an array of immigrants and refugees who relate their personal experiences, outlines issues facing immigrants around the world, and highlights their common goal: hope for a better future. Useful to launch discussion of complex related issues as well, including colonialism, racism, decolonization, gender roles, identity, sexual orientation, Indigenous peoples, multiculturalism, socioeconomics, belief systems, and violence. Social considerations noted; sensitive topics may be triggers for some students.
