Four Dead Queens

The land of Quadara is divided into four sections, each with different values and each ruled by one of four sister queens. Seventeen-year-old Keralie is a thief tasked with stealing a package for her friend Mackiel from the messenger Varin, but she decides to break away from Mackiel and work with Varin to regain the package which contains information about the planned deaths of the four queens. When Keralie tries to warn the queens of the danger she fails and becomes a suspect in the crimes. This fantasy novel for grades 9-10 is suitable as an independent or literature circle choice and deals with relationships, motivations that drive people, and difficult choices that people sometimes need to make.
