Four Faces of the Moon

Strong, A.
Based on the highly acclaimed stop-motion film, this graphic novel traces a family’s journey through major historical events in Western Métis history. Spotted Fawn travels through time and generations to learn about the experiences and trauma experienced by the Métis people and the effects of colonization and the destruction of the buffalo, which was essential to their survival. In a secondary classroom, this novel lends itself well to a novel study, and excerpts from the story may be used to dig deeper into particular historical events. It may also provoke a deeper understanding of the historical context and significance of this period in history.
