Fox and Squirrel
This story focuses on Squirrel, who can see only differences between himself and Fox, a belief echoed by Rat whose fixed mindset prevents him from seeing past their dissimilarities. Squirrel, however, is eventually won over by the persistent perspective of Fox, who looks on the brighter side of things, and Squirrel eventually sees that they have much in common and are not so different after all. This Canadian picture book explores friendship, belonging, acceptance, inclusiveness, and diversity. Suitable for independent study, partner or guided reading, teacher read-aloud, or Writer’s workshops.
