Girls They Left Behind, The

The novel tells the story of Natalie, a girl who is coming of age and searching for identity amidst the chaos of the Second World War. While Natalie contemplates her future, tries out various types of employment in the war industry, and experiments with a different persona, she must also come to terms with the departure of several of her male friends and family members as they enlist and are called up for service overseas.
