Great Gilly Hopkins, The

Paterson, Katherine
This is the story of a very angry 11-year-old girl who is entering her third foster home in less than three years. Beyond all else, Gilly wants her birth mother to rescue her, so she consistently sabotages the social worker's attempts to settle her in a loving home. Gilly struggles with issues of abandonment and the resulting anger; she is afraid to care for and rely on people because of the hurt she has suffered in the past.
