Grumpy Monkey
Grumpy monkey Jim Panzee is having a bad day, but he doesn’t know what is wrong or even that he is feeling grumpy. When his friends try to help him feel better and suggest ways he can cheer up nothing works but finally, by the end of the day, he realizes it is okay to feel grumpy, and once he admits this to himself and his friend he feels better. This captivating picture book would be a great read-aloud for K-3 to launch discussion about feelings, emotions, and friendships. The expressive, cartoon-style illustrations engage students and the simple language is easy for young students to understand and to use to explore their own emotions.
