16-year-old Taliah was raised by her immigrant mom and has never known who her father is, but she has always suspected him to be rock star Julian Oliver. Her suspicions are confirmed when Julian shows up at her door and asks her to go see her dying grandfather and when Taliah decides to go with Julian over the next five days she learns about her family, herself, friendship, and that sometimes life is complicated. This novel for grades 8-10 has a modern sensibility and is suitable as an independent novel or for literature circles on themes of identity, family, complexity of relationships, love, friendship, secrets, and opening up to others.
