Teenager Griffin develops a strong romantic bond with Theo and suffers from jealously and longing when Theo moves to California and starts a relationships with Jackson. When Theo drowns, Griffin is grief-stricken and has to deal with the powerful emotions he experiences while also dealing with emerging feelings for, and relationships with, his friend Wade and Jackson.
