History of Wolves

Fridlund, E.
When her family leaves the abandoned commune where she was raised, Linda tries to fit into school and her new town, with some disastrous consequences. Her history teacher, Mr. Grierson, chooses her to participate in the History Odyssey but he is found guilty of having child pornography. Linda becomes friends with her neighbours across the lake and babysits their four-year-old son Paul for the summer but that relationship is tragically cut short, which haunts Linda for the rest of her life. This engaging coming-of-age novel for grades 11-12 deals with issues of identity and the impact of trauma and is suitable for independent or classroom novel study.
