Hot Pot Night
What’s for dinner? Hot pot! In this children’s picture book, a young boy brings all of his neighbours together—a community of diverse individuals of varying ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds—as they work collaboratively to prepare a meal. A story that highlights culture, cooperation and community, it is also about individual identity and working together despite differences. Particularly appropriate for an early primary audience, the story can be used to discuss how group identity stems from the sum of its individuals. In the classroom, it lends itself well to group projects where students can explore their own customs, traditions, and beliefs, then work collaboratively to complete a group project that celebrates each.
