How to Make a Wish
Seventeen-year-old Grace dreams of pursuing her love of music by moving to New York to study but her complex relationship with her alcoholic mother may destroy her dream. When Eva, an aspiring ballerina, moves to town following the untimely death of her mother the two girls develop a romantic and supportive relationship as they work hard to fulfill both of their dreams. This engaging coming-of-age novel for grades 10-12 can be used as an independent or literature circle choice and examines relatable issues of the power of hope and wishes, sexual identity, co-dependent relationships, choices and consequences, and facing life after high school.
