Mindful affirmations are “I Can” statements that emphasize the inner strength we have inside of us when facing difficult challenges. This book explores the power of these affirmations from the perspective of a young child. Accompanied by expressive, brightly-coloured imagery, the rhyming stanzas and simple affirmations help young readers develop a strong, guiding inner voice. Students in K–4 may make personal connections to the mindful affirmations during a class read-aloud or discussion. In the classroom, the resource could encourage reflective writing and project-based learning around the development of identity.
