When eighteen-year-old Ben comes out to their family as being non-binary, Ben is kicked out of the house and moves in with his sister, who left home years earlier, and Hannah and her husband support Ben’s new life. At Ben’s new school they choose to keep their sexuality hidden but when Ben starts to fall for Nathan they find the courage to come out at school and to their parents. This timely novel for grades 10-12 deals with topics of gender identity, discrimination, prejudice, coming-of-age, and LGBTQ+, and is suitable for literature circles and a class or school library.
