iLit

multiple authors
The iLit literary collection, an English Language Arts resource for Canadian high school students, fills a need for current, engaging writing for today’s youth. It covers a wide variety of forms, topics, and authors, and represents many voices of Canada which are missing from other anthologies, in particular Aboriginal and immigrant voices. The collection deals effectively with social considerations in Canadian society in a realistic manner, and deals particularly well with issues that young people are involved with today. The readings also challenge students to consider other viewpoints and their own biases. The design of each selection is aesthetically pleasing; the layout is uncluttered, clean, in full colour, and easy to navigate. While the primary use of the resource is English Language Arts, it will be useful in a wide variety of classroom contexts, as many pieces will supplement content areas which deal with life experience.
