The book deals with identity, sexual orientation, friendship, loss, poverty, bias, and a-typical families. Students in grades 8-12 will enjoy this fast-paced story with identifiable characters, which lends itself to an array of classroom activities, including role playing, rewriting scenes, and researching treatment of LGBTQ students.
