Reynolds, P.H.
Ramon loves to draw and is always drawing until he is criticized by his brother for not drawing perfectly. No matter how hard he tries he can’t draw perfectly so he throws his work away and gives up, until he goes into his sister’s room where she has a gallery of his drawings on her wall. He is inspired to create again, and he energetically paints and draws without concern for perfection. This picture book, with a simple narrative and whimsical, child-like drawings, is suited to a class read-aloud to encourage discussion of growth mindset, perseverance, persistence, responding to criticism, exploring one’s passions, the process of creativity, taking risks, and recognizing it is safe to fail.
