Jackal in the Garden
Set in 15th century Persia, this novel tells the story of Anubis, a girl born disfigured into the harem of her vicious father. Doomed to die, she is rescued by her mother. When her mother is killed, Anubis seeks her future in the desert. After a series of adventures, she is welcomed into an artists' enclave where she makes her first friends and begins to discover who she is.
