Journey of the Midnight Sun

Afzal, S.
This book is the true story of a community that came together to support the Muslim population in Inuvik. It is about how Canadians built and transported a mosque across the country to give the small Muslim community a place where they could worship. This story celebrates how diverse societies can work together towards a common goal of support for each other. In a primary classroom, the story lends itself well as a read-aloud and may provoke an exploration of how Canada is diverse. Additionally, it may help teachers segue into discussions about various beliefs and spirituality.
