Kimchi & Calamari

Kent, R
When his teacher directs students to write about their heritage, Joseph questions his identity. While he loves the Italian-American parents who adopted him, he becomes curious about his biological Korean parents and his cultural roots. Unable to find information about his background, he invents ancestors for his essay and searches for his biological parents. He writes a subsequent essay calling himself an "ethnic sandwich" comprised of Korean, American and Italian layers.
