A Japanese-American family moves from a Japanese community in Iowa to Georgia in search of work and a better life. There they learn that not everyone is accepting of people of different race. Katie learns about acceptance from her older sister Lynn, but when Lynn becomes ill and dies, Katie works hard to share Lynn’s message of hope.
