Lila and the Crow

Grimard, G.
Lila and her family move to a new town and she is so excited to go to school and make new friends. But, the exact opposite happens – because of her dark skin and hair she is bullied and taunted. Lila tries to hide herself to escape the bullying, but with the unexpected help of a crow, Lila learns to accept herself, develop self-confidence, and embrace differences. This picture book, for grades K-7, could be a useful read-aloud to encourage discussion of positive and respectful behaviour, inclusion, accepting difference, self-esteem, and anti-bullying. Colourful, engaging illustrations accompany the text.
