Many of these young women overcame obstacles and barriers to be the first woman of colour in their fields. Suitable for literary circles or book clubs, as a resource for class-created biographies, or to support Black History Month or Women’s History Month. May serve to inspire young students to reflect on their potential in society and their capacity for change.
