Nala, a seventeen-year-old Black girl, lives with her cousin Imani, an environmental activist. When Nala meets Imani’s friend Tye they experience an instant attraction, but Tye is an activist, a vegetarian, and a community organizer, while Nala would rather stay home, watch movies, and eat junk food. She tells him a web of lies and they start dating but she becomes uncomfortable with the untruths and realizes the importance of self-love and acceptance.
