Lucy Tries Hockey

When Lucy and her family go ice skating she sees a hockey game in process and is inspired to try hockey. She participates in a hockey camp and with the encouragement of her family and the coaches, Lucy learns basic hockey skills. This Canadian picture book for PreK-2 can be used to introduce students to the joy and well-being of new sports and activities, to encourage children to become activity in community sports, as a mentor text, and to foster discussion of physical literacy, para-athletes and inclusiveness, gender equality, girls and women in sport, perseverance, and being brave and trying new things.
