Me and My Fear

Frenci, S.
A young girl has a tiny friend called Fear who keeps her safe and watches over her, but when she moves to a new country and a new school, Fear grows quickly and starts to control her and prevents her from taking risks and making friends. She feels alone and isolated until a boy in her class draws and paints with her and this new relationship helps her reign in Fear and she learns that she is not the only person who has Fear as a friend. This engaging picture book, with colourful, appealing illustrations, can be used as a read-aloud to foster discussions of identifying and addressing fears, recognizing that everyone has fears to overcome, self-regulation, and responding to and handling uncomfortable feelings.
