When twelve-year-old Cici and her family move from Taiwan to Seattle she faces two key challenges: fitting in at school and missing her grandmother whose seventieth birthday is fast approaching. Cici decides to enter a cooking content to win money to bring her grandma to the US, but only knowing how to cook Taiwanese food she scrambles to learn to cook “American” foods and learns on her journey that she can actually fit in just the way she is.
