Missing May

Rylant, Cynthia
This novel is set in the Appalachians. When Summer's foster mother, May, dies, the life goes out of her foster father, Ob. With the uninvited and often unwanted help from Cletus, a boy that Summer thinks might be a 'flat-out lunatic', they give Ob the help he needs to come to terms with May’s death. Told in first person, this is a very heart-warming story about the power of love and acceptance.
