My Name is Seepeetza
This biography chronicles the adventures of 12-year-old Seepeetza, forced to attend a government-run school in Canada during the 1950s. Seepeetza doesn't like school, but she knows that '...all status Indian kids have to go to residential schools.' Using journal entries and short chapters, Seepeetza struggles to understand why she gets punished for her 'wrongdoings' and dreams of a time when she can stay at home with her family.
