No Great Mischief

MacLeod, Alistair
In the 18th century, the MacDonald clan came to Cape Breton from Scotland; in modern-day, one of their progeny is an orthodontist, Alexander MacDonald, the protagonist who narrates the story. Alex goes to visit his much older alcoholic brother, Calum. Over the course of the visit, Alex flashes back to his childhood when he and his twin sister were orphaned when his parents and another brother fell through the ice, and remembers folklore about his clan.
