Nostalgia
Dr. Frank Sina lives a comfortable life in futuristic Toronto where immortality has been achieved and he creates new memories for people who have been genetically re-engineered, and keeps their leaked memories, or Nostalgia, at bay. Frank is perfectly happy with his life and job until a new patient enters Frank's life and as his patient slowly begins to unravel, Frank questions his own understanding of his life, and soon his job and purpose are at odds with his conscience. This novel for Grades 11-12 would fit in a dystopian lit circle collection and excerpts could launch discussion of ethics, genetic engineering, or the role religion plays in a society.
