Nyxia
Detroit teenager Emmett is given the opportunity to leave Earth and earn money that will help take care of his family. The ten recruits, all of whom have troubled pasts, must compete to be the ones chosen go to Eden and mine a substance called Nyxia, and learn how to deal with the local dangers and the manipulative mining company. This engaging dystopian novel for grades 10-12 is suitable to explore themes of poverty, resource gathering, colonial ideas, competition, rebellion, and coming of age.
