Ocean Literacy - Elementary
Based on the seven Ocean Literacy principles designed to help understand the connection between oceans and humans, “Ocean Literacy – Elementary” is a web-based course that helps young learners explore the key issues related to human impacts on the environment. Relevant and engaging, the website’s content is largely presented through text, images, and videos, supporting a variety of learning styles and interests. Suitable for students in Grade 3–6, this resource may complement learning around environmental protection as well as Indigenous perspectives of interconnectedness and sustainability. Teachers can use this as a stand-alone resource or to support inquiry-based learning and critical thinking about the global human impact on oceans and how students can be actively involved in keeping oceans healthy.
