One Game at a Time: My Journey from Small-Town Alberta to Hockey's Biggest Stage
Harnarayan Singh’s autobiography recounts his life growing up in a small Albertan town as part of its only Sikh family, his fascination with both hockey and broadcast journalism, and how he combined those two loves and made history with Hockey Night in Punjabi as well as being the first Sikh to broadcast an NHL game in English. Singh describes the racism and many challenges he faced in sport journalism but in a positive way as he explains what Canada got wrong as well as how things have improved over time. Suitable for a classroom library, literature circle, and to launch discussion of racism, multiculturalism, identities, social justice, and stereotypes.
