Out of Hiding: Holocaust Literature of British Columbia

Twigg, A.
This resource, a collection of Holocaust survivors’ stories, brings various biographical stories to light and includes their subsequent journeys to British Columbia, Canada. The stories are personal narratives of those who lived through the atrocities and detail their accounts of internment camps and events related to or after the Holocaust. In a senior secondary classroom, teachers may choose to select excerpts to explore in smaller sections, and the combination of first-person and secondary perspectives can provide an opportunity to reflect on primary and secondary sources. Students may also be invited to map out the survivors’ journeys after leaving Europe and arriving in Canada.
