Passing Playbook, The

Fitzsimons, I.
Spencer Harris has recently transitioned and finds himself at a new school, where he meets Justice. As their friendship grows into a relationship, Spencer navigates complex conflicts while dating someone who has not come out yet. A coming-of-age story that may invite secondary-level students to examine language around transgender people or reflect on healthy family relationships, this book may also allow students to identify with the characters or recognize others in the community who may experience similar situations. Teachers may introduce the novel as a literature circle selection in the classroom and use it to discuss and unpack the homophobic and transphobic responses some of the peripheral characters have towards Spencer and Justice.
