People Kill People
Six young people living in the United States have all been touched by gun violence and their lives intersect in unexpected and violent ways. Narrated by Violence, the novel alternates between prose and verse to explore the minds of the six damaged youth and invites readers to slip into the “skin” of each character. This complex novel, for grade 12 students, explores gun violence, love, sex, power, violence, hatred, and racism in a society that has easy access to guns. Given its mature content, the novel is best suited for a literature circle or independent reading. Social considerations noted.
