Mira is a fifteen year old girl who struggles with her own identity and the loneliness she feels, which is fed in part by that fact that her father basically abandoned her. Her level of self-confidence is undermined by this turn of events and she strives to accepted by her peers and others. Mira experiences the true sense of abandonment when her father is killed in a plane crash and she realizes she will never see him again.
