Promise Boys

JB, Ramon, and Trey attend a charter school established to give boys who have struggled in traditional schools a chance at a better future. When the principal who established the school is murdered at the school, the three teens, two Black and one Salvadoran, are considered prime suspects and taken in for questioning. The trio decides they must work together to investigate the murder and clear their names. This timely young adult novel is suitable for literature circles, individual novel study, exploration of the mystery genre, and independent reading, and explores prejudice, racism, safety, gang violence, and injustice.
