Race Against Time
The book is a series of lectures (CBC's Massey lectures) that draws on Lewis' experiences in the United Nations before, and during, his time as a UN special envoy for AIDS/HIV in Africa. He details the failure of the world community to deal adequately with the problems that - literally - plague that continent. The solutions he offers demand an active engaged response from Western governments that have been promised, but not delivered.
