Radio Silence

Frances isn’t the studious student she seems to be at school; she is also an artist, and when she meets Aled, her life changes. They reveal their true selves, share secrets, and together they wrestle with their creative, sexual, and academic identities. But when the trust between them is broken, they struggle to find their place in the world. A story about family, friendship, diversity, art, and identity, “Radio Silence” may challenge senior secondary students to explore its mature themes within literature circles or as an independent novel choice. In the classroom, teachers may use excerpts to inspire creative writing opportunities and discussions about the different forms that stories can take.
